PALMER TOWNSHIP, PA (Northampton County) – A Warren County man died after crashing his motorcycle on Route 22 in Palmer Township Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
On Feb. 7, shortly before 4:00 p.m., David Walton, 59, of Phillipsburg was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Route 22 past 25th Street when he came upon eastbound traffic that was either stopped or slowing to stop, due to congestion as a result of a prior Route 33 accident Investigation, police said.
Walton skidded, and lost control of his motorcycle, laying it down. He along with his motorcycle, continued sliding on the roadway until the bike made impact with a box truck and he came to rest beneath a separate car, police said.
Walton suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead by the Northampton County Coroner’s Office at St Luke’s Anderson, police said.
There were no other injuries reported by any other motorists involved, police said.
Route 22 eastbound was originally closed from Route 33 to 13th Street, then from 25th to 13th Street, until the investigation was completed and was reopened at 7:45 p.m.
Palmer Municipal Fire Department, Suburban EMS and the Northampton County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
