Police: Budd Lake woman charged after $5,444 theft by deception

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Budd Lake woman was charged after police say she deceived a victim by claiming she was part of Illuminati and could assist the victim with joining.

On September 8, at around 9:47 p.m., police were contacted by the victim claiming to be defrauded over Instagram, police said.

The suspect, later identified as Kimberly Lovenberg, 41, was able to persuade the victim into sending her $5,444 through Venmo. She allegedly claimed that she was part of the Illuminati and could assist the victim with joining, police said.

On October 28, Lovenberg responded to police headquarters and turned herself in. She was charged with theft by deception and was released pending a court appearance, police said.
